As we write this newsletter, a thunderstorm is making it’s way over the farm, the air warm and heavy. Spring has arrived, and much of the NC Piedmont has descended into a particular time of year that can only be described as The Pollening. Despite the challenges of allergy season, spring is a transformative time on the land—its people, plants, and creatures visually bursting back to life. This spring has been especially busy on the farm as we wrap up construction of a new wash/pack building, finish planting our fruit and berry orchard, double our growing space, and prepare for our first season as full-time vendors at the historic Carrboro Farmers Market!

Amidst the hustle of wrapping up those lingering winter projects, spring ephemerals emerge, calling us to slow down and appreciate the transformation happening all around us. It’s no coincidence that some of the first plants to spring forth each year—such as dandelion, violet, nettles, and cleavers—act as nature’s allies in helping to 'spring clean' our bodies. These vibrant plants not only cleanse and nourish but also invite us to reconnect with the earth’s cycles; letting go of what no longer serves us, so we can chart our intentions for the new season ahead. As the landscape blossoms, so do we—through the seasons, the work, and our community.
